Matching pictures to length of music

Postby jvaccaro728 on Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:10 pm

I purchased muvee Reveal after having used muvee AutoProducer 6 and found it lacking what I need. I am creating a movie, that is basically a life story. I have selected 5 songs, with a duration of 21:06 (oe 1,266 seconds). I have approximately 350 picture and 1-5 second video. I have been trying to get this movie to use all of the pictures/videos and spread them out across the 21:06 minutes. How hard is it for muvee Reveal to do this math? We are looking at about 3.6 seconds per picture. I can remove some of the pictures, but I just want to know why the product cannot do simple math? It tells me I need to add music OR it will drop pictures/videos. Why can't it just divide evenly? I know I will end up dropping some of the pictures, especially because 3 seconds per shot is too little, but I do not see why you only get a choice of the product automatically dropping your pictures OR repeating your songs. What am I missing?

This is surely a confusing area in Reveal. Different Reveal styles are developed with different optimal ranges of durations for showing pictures (or more generally what we call "segments", which includes video). If your style setting causes Reveal to shrink the timing by too much, it will drop pictures. For example, it doesn't make stylistic sense to turn the pages in the "scrapbook" style every 1/4 a second.

Possible remedy: If the style you use has some kind of "pacing" control, you can turn it up in order to tell the style to create faster productions. Doing so also changes the range of accepted durations for a picture and the dropping behaviour won't kick in. Let me know if that doesn't cut it for you.
