Things I miss in Reveal X

As a Reveal user since day 1, I'm happy to see the advancements in the latest version, Reveal X. But I notice that a couple of features have (apparenly) been removed since Reveal 8. They may look minor at first glance, but they really add to the usability (and enjoyment) of making muvees.

- #1: All photos are displayed as square thumbnails in Reveal workspace. In the previous release, the photos were displayed in their original format--this made it easy to identity the portrait shots and panoramas that I like to add to my muvees. For those pictures, I would manually calibrate the MagicSpot and tweak the minimum display time. In Reveal X, everything is blown up to fit a square thumbnail--this makes it very difficult to identify those pictures and slows down my muvee making. It would be nice to have a preference setting to display original or square thumbnails.

- #2: In the previous version, you could click a "Play" button to see how the zooming effect would look like for a photo. This is extremely helpful if you prefer to manually calibrate the MagicSpot, to see if it zooms like you expect. This button was inexplicably removed in Reveal X--why? Not being able to preview my MagicSpots feels like I'm just guessing at things. (Yes, I can preview the entire muvee, but it's not the same.) [/*]

Finally, this is not a missing feature, but one that would be extremely handy: in the mode used to define MagicSpot/MagicMoments, add a caption, etc., can you add a "Delete" button? Often I'm looking at my images and videos in this mode and decide that I don't want it in my muvee. But to remove it, I must click [OK] to exit that mode, delete, then reenter the mode. That becomes a hassle.

Thanks again for listening--I hope some of these suggestions can make it into a future build!

Regards,
Carl Lum

I agree. Removing the "Play" button on pan and zoom magic spot preview was a HUGE mistake. That was a welcome addition when it was added. PUT IT BACK please! It is a real pain now to check the effect after I have adjusted it.

#2 - We took out the preview button on for magicSpot in muvee Reveal X. With mRX, we have upped the ante on text animations, but the downside of that is that the current framework we are working within does not allow text animations to be rendered for preview. And because these are all part of the same process on photos, we had to take out preview for magicSpot too.

Hi Patrick.

There's text animation in Reveal X? I didn't know that. How do you trigger it?

Can you at least look at providing "original" vs. "square" thumbnail previews at least? That would be a great help to me.

Thanks.
Carl

I would gladly give up the text animation to get that preview button back on magic spot! Please get it back in. It made my life a LOT easier.

There is one feature that I would very much like for you to add to the editing options and that is the capability to turn off (mute) the background music for a few clips. There are occasions when the music interferes with or is inappropriate for just one scene. I am sure that adding this feature would not be too great a challenge to programming geniuses who were able to develop such and excellent product. Apart from missing this feature I love this editor. It is so easy to use and does such a good job.
It is nice to have so many styles--more than I will ever want to use--but they all come in bundles. So, in order to get one that I like, I have to download two others for which I have no use. I would not mind paying the same price for just one style, or more than one third of the current price, for the privilege of downloading the exact styles that will be useful to me.

Hey Oscar--Reveal X has exactly the feature you're asking about: you can right-click your video clip and select "Boost audio". This effectively mutes (but not completely) the music so that the video's audio track can be heard. This is a great feature and one that is most welcome. I use it a lot and it works well.

As for the styles, I agree that you won't use all the styles in a Style Pack, but they are good value for the money. I've noticed that muvee has lowered the price of the Style Packs in recent years, so now it's only $10 for a pack of three--well worth it. I would prefer this than to pay, say $4.95 or whatever, for a single style.

Thanks, Carl. But the Boost Audio is not exactly what I am talking about. I need a total pause (silence) in the background music for a frame or two. Also, I am one of those who persons hates to clutter up the display with items (style packs) that I will never use.

If I may add my own request for bringing back that play button. It is needed terribly.

One thing that i liked to do in autoproducer is make a muvee and then pick a clip and swap it out with something different, similiar, or something of my choosing. I got autoproducer with an old pc and decided to buy it, but only reveal was offered and it does not have the ability to do that or interleve. Is there anyway I can buy autorpucer?
