Reveal not using all video clips

Postby paulbid on Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:55 pm

I have the latest version of Reveal installed. I am very frustrated with the ability of Reveal to compress my video clips into a movie. Maybe my expectations are too high, in which case I wasted my money on this product.

I have 170 video clips which total to a length of about 1 hour. What I want to do is create a 10 minute video which contains snippets of each clip. I thought Reveal would do this for me automagically. However, what Reveal is doing is only using the first 50 clips to create the 10 minutes. When I selected manual duration length, the explanation next to the radio button indicates that I need to use MagicMoments and highlight and exclude what I want. That means I have to do this on 170 clips, that is a very tedious process. And I have to continue to play with the highlights until it matches the 10 minutes. At that point, I might as well go into my favorite video editor and do this by hand.

I thought Reveal would automatically do this compression process for me.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Reveal to use all the clips and keep it at 10 minutes?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

I'm guessing you're using a slow style (maybe Scrapbook?). Have you tried playing with the "Pace" parameter in your style's settings, for example? Most styles have this parameter in their "Style settings" panel. The faster the pace, the more clips Reveal will use.

The use case you present is legitimate and Reveal ought to be able to do this automatically. It can take little bit of getting used to telling Reveal about how you want it to treat your media versus the control you want to exert on the style.

Cheers,
-Kumar

Yes, I just sent Muvee Support an email with two .rvl files. Both of them are related (the test one is a smaller version of the larger one). The .rvl now has 2 problems:

1. The issue I'm having with length (reported in this post)
2. Now that I've turned on MagicMoments, Muvee is now freezing the video between two clips and ignoring my MagicMoment excluded section. In fact, it seems the excluded part of the video clip is what is being shown in very slow motion and then freezing for several seconds.

I'm using the Lights, Camera, Action style. I will check on the Pacing parameter to see if that helps.
