Resolution Reduction

Postby bobzilla on Thu Dec 29, 2011 10:37 pm

This is a strange one.
I made a Muvee and saved it in the DV-AVI setting of 720x480. The preview of the finished movie was great.
I play the movie in the VLC media player. It plays great. The VLC player codec details report Resolution: 720x480 Display resolution 720x480.
So far so good.
I import the AVI file into an Adobe Premiere project set for editing at 720x480. The file comes into the program at a resolution of 360x240 exactly half the size.
The final render of the video at 720x480 appears pixelated just like an image that has been enlarged 2x from its native size.
Why is the muvee file shrinking when it's imported to Adobe Premiere? (I tried it in AP 6.5 and CS3 with the same results)

I found the solution!
When I go to save the file. After clicking save muvee:
1 Select the 'folder' icon
2 Select DV-AVI
3 In the details window that pops up click 'change setings' link in the lower right corner of the window.
4 An 'advanced settings' window pops up
5 In the 'Video Settings' click the drop down arrow of the DV type.
6 Select 'Type 2' (the default is Type 1)
The video now imports as 720x480 into Adobe Premiere! Go figure.
