Videos were shot with Canon HD camcorder...

Postby Kasl604 on Wed Nov 30, 2011 5:14 am

Is anyone in the same boat as me?? All my home videos were shot on a Canon HD Camcorder that was purchased in 2009. The file type says "M2TS file"...(I have no idea what this even is) I donloaded the Muvee trial, but it won't support HD video with Dolby, fair enough.
My Question is this:
If I get the full version, will it support this "M2TS" file type?? or do I need to convert the "M2TS" to something else? and if so, what do I have to convert it to? & HOW DO I CONVERT IT?? HELP!!

I'm pretty amature when it comes to this stuff :?

Thanks!

Hi Kasl604,

You can always try the trial version of our software. Please note that due to patent licensing restrictions, we're not able to support HD video formats whilst in the free trial period. We would like to recommend that you purchase the full version. Btw, we didn't ship these features in the trial version as it requires additional licensing and cost.

muvee Reveal X support videos in M2TS format ;)

Thanks for answering my question.

2 more questions for you:

I know that the M2TS files are pretty big, so how long should I aim to make my Muvees to avoid huge files & long down load waits?? I noticed in a different post from a user that they had created a 50 min HD video and it was taking a good 2 hours to preview. What length is optimal for viewing & buring to disc??

Also, I did get the trial version & made a video using non-HD video. It worked, except I was unable to use the MagicMoments tool to select sections from the clips. Is the magicmomments tool not avail. on the trial version??

Thanks!

Hi Kasl604,

Below 20 mins of videos will do with a mix with your photos. By right, magicMoments should work even in trial mode. When you said that the magicMoments doesn't work, can you please tell us what happened when you us the feature? Thanks!
